Every
Couple has a Story ... this is ours
Tim tried to date Lynda
for over a year, but she wouldn't go out with him until he got out of
the Navy (he was on a nuclear Polaris submarine and she once worked at
the Submarine base and knew what Navy life did to couples). So,
he dated
Lynda's friend Kitty (one of her bride's maids) to make sure he could
continue to see her. Tim left the Navy on June 5, 1970 and that
night was their first formal date. Lynda was a loan officer at a
bank that Tim kept trying to borrow money from to buy a
sailboat. Lynda's boss made her go check the boat before loaning
him the money (just get Tim out of his bank). Tim & Lynda
started dating, usually sailing. On July 16th, he proposed to
her on the Winsome Lady (the sailboat that brought them
together). Tim designed her rings and had them made weeks before
he proposed. They were married 6 weeks later. Tim knew months
before they started to date that she was the woman he wanted to spend
the rest of his life with ... it just took awhile to convince her, he
was the man she wanted.
For 30 years,
Lynda and Tim have been more than just in love, they've been each
other's "best friends". Since they started two
companies together, they have spent most of every day together for
many years. Even their 2 kids, Cherie and Ken, share in this special
friendship and consider their parents to be their close friends
too. So, when they decided to renew their vows at sea with the
Ship's Captain officiating, the kids felt it would be more special if,
together, they officiated over the ceremony instead.
