Tim has over
30 years of
experience in both the computer and electronics fields. He is
a recognized public speaker and author who has lectured and
appeared on television in several countries. He has held
positions as a programmer, webmaster, analyst, manager, engineer, teacher
and consultant. In 1978, Tim founded AIMS+PLUS, Inc. and
served as its president until 1985. At AIMS he created a Data
Base Management System (sold to thousands of customers like
the US Army) and an Expert System Generator that runs on most
computers and operating systems.
Tim left AIMS in 1986 to start VCR to research Expert Systems and to join an association of consulting professionals who all have special backgrounds from the government, international business, technical, medical and political fields. The I.D.E.A. Group provided innovative solutions for unusual business problems like security, risk management, embezzlement, competitive intelligence, medical systems and international business opportunities. Tim founded and published The BASIC-2 Report, a magazine for thousands of computer users that had subscribers in dozens of countries. In 1991, VCR bought the rights to AIMS that Tim had created years before and VCR now helps AIMS clients (many have used it for over 20 years) .
Until
1970, he served in the US Navy working with computers and
electronic warfare equipment on nuclear powered Polaris
missile submarines (visit the USS
Robert E. Lee (SSBN-601) web site for glimpse into his
days onboard). Then at GT&E in Connecticut he was an
engineer installing digital systems for universities. Next, in
Norfolk, VA as a Systems Analyst at Data Design Laboratories,
he developed computer systems to evaluate Trident missile
submarine electronics systems. At Unidyne Corporation, he
managed over 100 engineers designing electronic warfare
systems for the Navy. He was appointed to civil service as a
Senior Systems Analyst at the Naval Electronics Warfare Center
managing computer centers throughout the U.S. and designed
specialized shipboard computer subsystems. While at NAVELEX,
Tim helped many other government agencies automate classified
databases. In 1978, he left the government to become
Vice President of TFC, Inc. In Austin, Texas and managed a
state wide computer network.
Tim has lectured or taught computer courses at several universities, including the Soviet Academy of Science in Moscow, and has conducted seminars for many large corporations.
