Gilbert "Gil" P. Shaddock
Director

Gil Shaddock, Commander (USN, ret)  is a retired Naval officer who served on the same submarine, the USS Robert E. Lee (SSBN-601) as our founder, Tim VeArd.  Together, Gil and Tim have developed hundreds of websites that VCR has donated to the Navy Veteran Community.

Gil is on the Board of Directors of VCR.  His management skills gained while a senior Naval officer and his attention to detail while serving as a Nuclear Weapons Inspector for the Polaris / Trident Submarine Force, has helped VCR continue to grow and maintain a level of excellence.

In addition to his guidance severing as Director, Gil is our Chief Quality Control Officer.  VCR donates websites to Navy Veteran groups, not only because of our passion and commitment to honoring those who have served our country, but also to have a method to test all software subroutines before they are used on any customer website.  Gil performs this critical role by reviewing and testing all new software and subroutines on these donated websites.

Gil also is instrumental in working with countless veterans to train them on how to use the tools that VCR creates to manage the websites that we donate.  This provides VCR with valuable insight on how to make its database driven tools, that lets non computer professionals control their own applications, as user friendly as possible.  Gil is constantly evaluating our software techniques and recommending "friendlier" ways to present newer technology to our end users.

Prior to retiring from 30 years of submarine duty in the US Navy, Gil served on these submarines: USS Grampus (SS-523), USS Tunny (SSG-282), USS Darter (SS-576), USS Robert E. Lee (SSBN-601), USS Simon Lake (AS-31) and the USS Hunley (AS-31).  Gil served at many shore facilities, but his most notable duties were: Nuclear Weapons Inspector with Commander Submarine Flotilla 6, Missile Re-Entry Body Shop Division Officer at the Polaris Missile Facility (Atlantic) and Department Head of Test Instrumentation at the Naval Ordnance Test Unit.

Gil helped develop and continuously maintains hundreds of websites, such as:

www.ssbn601.com - one of hundreds of such websites donated to submarines and their reunion associations.  This specific submarine was the one that both Gil and Tim served on.  Gil founded this submarine's association and was the first president.  Tim later relieved Gil as the association president.
